BMW Group Middle East has debuted the fifth-generation BMW X5 in the United Arab Emirates, with the vehicle going to customers through the company’s official importers AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors.
The announcement, dated 2 November 2026, says AGMC will distribute the new model across Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, while Abu Dhabi Motors will handle sales in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
BMW describes the new X5 as the first model in the line to offer a choice of five different drive system types. The company also positions the vehicle as combining its new design language, described as Neue Klasse, with a range of driving technologies.
Electrified versions and drive technology claims
Among the variants, BMW says the BMW iX5 is the first battery-electric X5, launching with the sixth generation of BMW’s eDrive technology. The release states this is intended to support longer driving range figures “up to 845 kilometres” for the BMW iX5 60 xDrive, and references fast charging and 800V technology.
BMW also claims “practical bidirectional charging” and introduces what it calls new battery cell technology. The company says the high-voltage battery uses new cylindrical cells with a height of 120 millimetres, and that these are used for the first time in the new BMW iX5.
Design and interior update
BMW says the redesigned X5 presents a “clear, monolithic and powerful” look and highlights features including the vertically aligned BMW kidney Iconic Glow and new double-X light icons, described as making their first appearance on a BMW.
In the cabin, BMW says the interior uses core technologies from the Neue Klasse platform, including a new BMW Panoramic iDrive display and an operating system it names BMW Operating System X. The release also mentions a Central Display in free-cut design, a BMW 3D Head-Up Display, and a BMW Passenger Screen described as an optional extra for the first time in the X5.
BMW further points to the BMW Panoramic Vision projection concept spanning across the width of the windscreen, along with a newly designed multifunction steering wheel. For the interior materials, BMW says optional decorative surfaces include slate, adding that BMW is “the first carmaker worldwide” to offer slate as an optional decorative surface.
Driving assistance, suspension and production timeline
BMW says the X5 includes intelligent driver assistance and active safety functions with Level 2 systems. The company also notes that adaptive suspension is fitted as standard, and states axle load distribution is designed to be close to 50:50. Options listed in the release include Adaptive Chassis Control, as well as Adaptive Chassis Control Professional with roll stabilisation, with BMW saying it is initially available for all-electric and plug-in hybrid models.
On timing, BMW states the market launch of the first variants in the UAE is scheduled for late November 2026, with all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions to follow in early 2027.
Production ramp-up is described as starting months earlier. BMW says BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the United States will initiate series production of the fifth-generation X5 in August 2026, and that this facility has produced the X5 since 1999.
BMW also says the new BMW iX5 will be the first all-electric vehicle manufactured at the plant, and that a new factory for sixth-generation high-voltage batteries built for the model requires no fossil fuels for normal operations, as claimed in the release.
In its statement, BMW Group Middle East said the new UAE launch is intended to strengthen the company’s Sports Activity Vehicle portfolio, bringing the latest design, digital features and driving innovations to customers via AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors.
