FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) announced on November 5, 2026 that it has appointed Sandeep Kumar as a Senior Managing Director in the Tax practice within the firm’s Corporate Finance segment. The company said the move is intended to strengthen its UAE corporate tax and international tax capabilities as client demand grows for technology-enabled compliance support.
According to the firm, Mr. Kumar will be based in Dubai and will advise listed companies, multinationals and family-owned groups on matters including structuring, cross-border transactions, compliance, engagement with the tax authority, and technology-driven transformation of the tax function.
Strengthening UAE corporate and international tax support
FTI Consulting said Mr. Kumar’s work will build on the experience of the company’s Middle East tax team. Nilesh Ashar, a Senior Managing Director and Head of Middle East Tax at FTI Consulting, stated that the appointment represents an “important next step” for the firm’s tax practice in the region.
The firm also attributed to Mr. Ashar the view that, since the introduction of UAE corporate tax, Mr. Kumar has supported businesses across a range of stages, from impact assessment and implementation through compliance, clarifications and tax return filings, alongside the development of technology-enabled solutions.
Background and experience
FTI Consulting reported that Mr. Kumar brings 17 years of corporate and international tax experience, with approximately a decade of that experience in the GCC. The company said his advisory work has covered sectors including oil and gas, utilities, real estate, education, retail and consumer. It added that he has represented clients before the tax authority, supported complex private clarification requests and worked on tax technology solutions intended to improve corporate tax compliance.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, the company said Mr. Kumar served as a partner at a tax advisory firm in the UAE, where he built and led a corporate tax team and headed learning and development as well as thought leadership. FTI Consulting also said he previously held senior roles at major accounting firms in the UAE, India and Oman.
Regional capability and technology-enabled compliance
FTI Consulting’s Euan Sutherland, Head of EMEA Tax, said the company expects the appointment to strengthen connections between its regional tax team and its broader EMEA capabilities. He said Mr. Kumar’s understanding of UAE corporate tax, international tax and technology-enabled compliance will be valuable for organisations managing complex obligations across jurisdictions in the region.
Mr. Kumar is described by the firm as a Chartered Accountant (ICAI) and holder of the IBFD Advanced Professional Certificate in International Taxation (APCIT).
Comments from the appointee
In remarks attributed to him, Mr. Kumar said he expects businesses to require advice that combines technical depth with practical, commercially grounded solutions as UAE corporate tax transitions from implementation into closer scrutiny.
FTI Consulting is a global firm that works with organisations facing crisis and transformation. The company said it had more than 8,100 employees across 32 countries and territories as of June 30, 2026, and reported revenues of $3.8 billion during fiscal year 2025.
