Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has appointed Vincenzo Finizzola as General Manager of The Langham, Venice, the hotel company said.
The appointment is part of what LHG described as the forthcoming Venetian landmark property’s pre-opening preparations ahead of a planned 2028 debut.
Finizzola, described by LHG as an Italian hotelier with more than four decades in luxury hospitality, will lead the team as the company prepares the venue. LHG said his career spans experience across Italy and the United Kingdom, including senior leadership roles in Venice, Rome, Milan and London. The group added that he previously served for more than 20 years as General Manager of The Four Seasons, Milan, and most recently worked as Managing Director of Cà Sagredo Hotel in Venice.
LHG said Finizzola’s industry contribution was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Best Luxury Hotel Awards. The company did not provide further details of the awarding body’s criteria in the announcement.
“Vincenzo’s distinguished career, deep understanding of Venice and profound respect for its cultural heritage make him the ideal leader for The Langham, Venice,” said Nils-Arne Schroeder, Chief Operating Officer of LHG. Schroeder added that Finizzola’s experience leading landmark luxury hotels, along with his knowledge of the city, will be valuable as the company builds the property’s team.
In the role, Finizzola will report to Stefan Soennichsen, Regional Vice President, Operations Europe, LHG, according to the company.
Conversion of historic waterfront site
LHG said The Langham, Venice is scheduled to be located on the waterfront of Murano Island. The project, the company said, will transform the historic 16th-century Casino Mocenigo and a former glass factory into a 133-room luxury resort, including 30 suites.
The hotel design, LHG said, is by Matteo Thun & Partners. The company stated the redevelopment will incorporate the island’s glassmaking heritage while preserving the site’s Renaissance architecture, original 16th-century frescoes and industrial character.
Facilities described by LHG include indoor and alfresco dining, a rooftop bar and a private cooking school. The resort will also feature a secluded courtyard garden with a 20-metre swimming pool, which LHG said will be central to the property.
What LHG said about the brand
Alongside the appointment, LHG reiterated brand positioning for The Langham Hotels & Resorts, describing it as a portfolio known for design-led service and dining, with properties across multiple regions. LHG said The Langham traces its heritage to the brand’s London flagship hotel opened in 1865.
The company also described Langham Hospitality Group as a global hotels, resorts and residences operator. LHG said it is wholly owned by Great Eagle Holdings Limited and has brands including The Langham, Cordis, Eaton and Ying’nFlo.
