Tanmiah Food Company (TADAWUL: 2281) has announced the launch of a joint “Green Initiative” in Al-Ahsa, aiming to plant 100,000 trees across the governorate as part of efforts to expand green cover and support environmental sustainability.
In a statement dated 5 November 2026, the company said the initiative is being carried out with the Al-Ahsa Development Authority, the Environment Fund, and Al-Ahsa Municipality, under an official ceremony held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa.
Scope and tree types
Tanmiah said the planting is planned for designated sites across Al-Ahsa’s main cities, surrounding towns, and natural areas. The locations, according to the announcement, include public parks, streets, major roads and city entrances, as well as open spaces and parts of the region’s coastal and mountainous areas.
The company specified that the initiative targets two tree species: eucalyptus and sidr.
How the programme will be delivered
Tanmiah said activities will be implemented through an integrated plan, starting with site planning and selection and identifying suitable species for each location. It added that necessary infrastructure will be prepared before planting begins, followed by growth monitoring, care, and ongoing maintenance.
The statement said the approach is intended to support long-term environmental impact, improve environmental quality, and enhance the urban landscape, while also advancing alignment with the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030.
Public-private collaboration
Under the partnership described by Tanmiah, the company said it will implement the initiative, while the Al-Ahsa Municipality will select and prepare the planting sites. It added that the Al-Ahsa Development Authority and the Environment Fund will lead coordination and public awareness efforts.
The announcement also referenced the environmental context of the region, stating that the effort is intended to help combat desertification, expand green cover, and restore local ecosystems of the Al-Ahsa oasis, described as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Company statement
Tanmiah said the initiative builds on its earlier cross-border environmental programming, including a Saudi-Bahrain reforestation campaign. In remarks included in the release, Zulfiqar Hamadani, Chief Executive Officer of Tanmiah, said the company views sustainability as turning commitments into action and linked the 100,000 trees to its “One Million Trees Program.”
The company added that its contribution, alongside public-sector partners, reflects an approach connected to circular economy practices and support for the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030 ambitions.
