XRP is trading near $1.09 and has drawn fresh attention from traders after a familiar long-term consolidation pattern reappeared on its chart. The token was up about 1.6% over the past week but slightly lower on the day, with market focus shifting to whether price can clear the next resistance band and trigger a larger move.

At the same time, activity on the XRP Ledger has weakened versus earlier in 2026, tempering bullish technical enthusiasm. Investors are also watching the upcoming FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment vote and broader institutional developments tied to Ripple’s enterprise push.

    Key takeaways

    • Price move: XRP trades around $1.09, up roughly 1.6% on the week while easing about 0.7% over 24 hours.
    • Catalyst in focus: Traders are monitoring a technical setup and a decision point near the $1.10–$1.12 resistance zone, alongside the FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment vote around July 29.
    • Key technical levels: $1.08 is the nearest support; a break below could expose $1.05.
    • Implication for investors: A potential breakout would be more persuasive if it comes while network usage stabilizes, given current declines in payments and active addresses.

What drove the renewed technical focus

Technical analysts cited a setup that resembles prior periods when XRP spent several weeks consolidating before pushing higher. While patterns are not a guarantee, they can influence positioning when traders see recurring compression and a clear range boundary.

In the current chart structure, the market’s near-term decision area sits between $1.10 and $1.12. XRP has tested this resistance zone multiple times without producing a decisive breakout, leaving traders watching for a stronger follow-through if the range finally resolves upward.

On the downside, $1.08 is the closest support level. A move below that threshold would shift the risk toward $1.05, according to the levels highlighted by technical commentary. Momentum measures also point to a waiting period: the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has hovered close to 48, suggesting the market remains neutral rather than clearly oversold or overbought.

Network activity dips despite chart interest

Even as price action draws speculation about a potential breakout, on-chain data signals a softer operating environment for the XRP Ledger. Daily payments on the network have fallen sharply from earlier months, dropping from about 1.694 million transactions on May 28 to roughly 210,000 on July 20—an over 80% decline in under two months.

Versus the yearly high of 2.188 million daily payments recorded in February, the decline is even steeper, at roughly 85%. The slowdown is visible beyond payments as well: daily transactions have slipped to about 1.129 million, compared with a yearly high of 5.172 million on April 6, representing a drop of nearly 78%.

Active participation has also cooled. Addresses acting as senders or receivers fell to about 123,986 on July 19, according to the figures cited in the report. Taken together, these trends suggest that while traders may be preparing for a technical resolution, network usage has not yet recovered to the levels seen earlier in 2026.

XRPL upgrade vote and what it could mean

Developers and validators are preparing for an upcoming amendment vote on the XRP Ledger: FixCleanup3_2_0, scheduled for around July 29. The proposal is described as focused on maintenance and performance improvements rather than introducing widely publicized new features.

Still, it sits within a broader roadmap that includes initiatives such as batch transactions, confidential transfers, sponsored transaction fees, permission delegation, and additional enhancements aimed at improving efficiency for developers and enterprise users.

Investors appear to be treating the vote as a milestone for execution and roadmap progress. The maintenance update itself is not expected to be an immediate price driver, but continued protocol development remains central to the long-term narrative traders are weighing.

Institutional developments and ETF flows remain mixed

Beyond on-chain and technical indicators, Ripple’s enterprise visibility continues to draw attention. Recent reporting points to increased engagement with major financial institutions, including Mastercard and JPMorgan, as part of efforts to expand blockchain-based payment infrastructure.

However, institutional flows into XRP-focused products have been uneven. XRP ETFs have recorded approximately $7.5 million in net outflows, a sign of cautious positioning by larger investors even as interest in Ripple’s payments technology persists.

The combination of weaker network usage, a neutral momentum backdrop, and mixed institutional flows sets up a scenario where a price breakout would likely need more than chart structure to convince skeptics—potentially requiring clearer signs of renewed activity or stronger confirmation from market breadth.

What to watch next: Traders will likely key off the $1.10–$1.12 resistance area and the $1.08 support level, while investors monitor the FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment vote around July 29 for updates on XRPL roadmap momentum. Additional signals coming from on-chain activity and institutional product flows could further shape whether current consolidation resolves higher or fails into another leg of range trading.
