Inveniam And Docugami Team Up To Validate Private Asset Data On-Chain

Inveniam and Docugami have announced a partnership to improve verification and transparency of data used in private-market investing, combining document-intelligence technology with blockchain-based attestations. The firms said the workflow will extract precisely labeled data from complex business documents and anchor those individual data elements on Inveniam’s NVNM Chain network.

The initiative arrives as artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in investment analysis, valuation, and decision-making—areas where the reliability of underlying data is increasingly a point of concern for investors, auditors, and asset managers.

    Key takeaways

    • Partnership formed: Inveniam and Docugami will link document extraction with blockchain attestations for private-market data.
    • Core catalyst: The companies aim to address longstanding challenges in verifying specific data points inside unstructured documents.
    • How it works: Docugami will provide DGML technology to convert documents into structured data, while Inveniam will anchor extracted elements on NVNM Chain.
    • Investor implication: The approach could strengthen traceability for AI-driven analysis, audits, valuation models, and tokenized asset workflows.

    What the companies are building

Private-market assets are typically supported by extensive volumes of unstructured documentation, including leases, loan agreements, operating statements, and valuation reports. While such documents contain information crucial to investors and professionals, the firms said verifying particular data elements within them has historically been difficult.

Under the partnership, Docugami will open its Document Graph Markup Language (DGML) technology. DGML is designed to translate complex business documents into structured, precisely labeled data elements.

Those extracted data points will then be anchored on Inveniam’s NVNM Chain blockchain network. The companies said the resulting records are designed to be tamper-evident and time-stamped.

Importantly, the firms said the approach is intended to verify and record individual extracted data elements independently, rather than only confirming the integrity of entire source documents. They also argued this could help create a more reliable foundation for tokenized assets and for AI-driven financial analysis, audits, and investment decisions by allowing participants to trace information back to its original source.

Why NVNM Chain matters for attestation

The partnership builds on Inveniam’s recently launched NVNM Chain, introduced on May 7. The network is positioned as a purpose-built Layer 2 blockchain intended to serve as an attestation layer for “agentic” artificial intelligence systems.

According to the companies, NVNM Chain is designed to record and anchor verifiable data, including “Proof of Origin,” “Proof of State,” and “Proof of Process” attestations. By anchoring DGML-generated data onto the network, Inveniam and Docugami aim to provide a referenceable audit trail for AI agents, investors, institutions, and auditors when evaluating private-market assets and transactions.

Inveniam’s chairman and chief executive Patrick O’Meara said DGML is a foundational step in how private-capital documents are read and structured, and that on-chain anchoring of DGML-extracted elements is meant to ensure the data elements “can be trusted by every stakeholder who needs to use it.”

    Transparency push for AI-driven finance

Both companies framed the deal as part of a broader effort to create a transparent data layer for private markets as AI adoption increases across financial services. They said the ability to independently verify extracted information could be especially relevant as machines play a larger role in interpreting documents used to support business and investment decisions.

Docugami’s chief executive Jean Paoli—also described by the firms as an XML co-creator and former president of Microsoft’s open source subsidiary—said many critical business decisions are made from documents that machines have not historically been able to read properly. He said opening DGML is intended to invite broader collaboration within the private capital ecosystem and establish a shared foundation.

The companies said they plan to demonstrate the full process from source-document extraction through on-chain verification. They cited potential applications across auditing, valuation, fundraising, reporting, and other private-market workflows.

    What to watch next

Investors and market participants will likely focus on how quickly the extraction-to-attestation workflow can be deployed in real private-market use cases and whether it meaningfully reduces verification friction in audits, valuations, and AI-supported analysis. The companies’ planned demonstrations and any further details on integration timelines for NVNM Chain and DGML are the next practical milestones to monitor.
