H Token Surges After Exploit; Tests $0.80 Resistance
H Token Surges After Exploit; Tests $0.80 Resistance

Humanity Protocol’s H token rebounded sharply after a severe security incident earlier this month, with traders pushing the asset back toward the 0.50 area. The recovery follows an earlier crash tied to a bridge-related exploit, and investors are now focused on whether the market will treat the event as an operational compromise rather than a fundamental technology failure.

According to CoinGecko data referenced in market coverage, H dropped from roughly 0.70 to below 0.10 between June 8 and June 9 after an attacker targeted Humanity Protocol’s cross-chain infrastructure. Since then, buyers have gradually rebuilt positions, helped by a detailed forensic assessment that pointed to a phishing-driven compromise of a developer’s machine.

    Key takeaways

    • Price move: H rose more than 300% from its post-exploit low and is trading closer to 0.50, but remains far below the roughly 0.80 level seen before the breach.
    • Catalyst: A forensic report by blockchain security firm Quantstamp attributed the incident to phishing and exposed private keys, rather than a direct compromise of Humanity Protocol’s zkEVM or biometric identity components.
    • Market implication: Chart levels show meaningful resistance between 0.55 and 0.65, implying the rally may need to overcome persistent sell pressure before attempting a retest of 0.80.
    • Key risk: A scheduled June 25 token unlock could increase supply pressure and shape near-term price action.

    What drove the rebound

The initial selloff was linked to a rapid theft sequence that, according to earlier disclosures by Humanity Protocol, involved draining 141.2 million H tokens from an Ethereum bridge and minting an additional 300 million tokens on BNB Smart Chain after the attacker obtained access to compromised keys.

That token influx flooded trading venues and drove prices down sharply, but the recovery gained traction after security firm Quantstamp published a forensic report. The report said the protocol’s zkEVM smart contracts and its palm-scan biometric identity system were not compromised during the attack. Instead, Quantstamp traced the breach to a phishing email that infected a developer’s machine and exposed sensitive private keys.

For investors, the distinction matters: the narrative shifted away from fears of a deeper flaw in the underlying protocol and toward a containment-and-recovery problem tied to operational security.

    Protocol response and damage-control steps

Humanity Protocol’s team moved to limit the impact of the exploit. Measures included launching a public tracker to monitor wallets reportedly associated with the attacker and blacklisting addresses linked to the exploit across centralized exchanges and decentralized trading platforms, according to the reporting.

The foundation also announced a $1 million USDT bounty for information that could help recover stolen assets. In the stated recovery plan, any recovered funds would be used for open-market token buybacks, which market participants see as a potential offset to supply pressure if balances can be reclaimed.

Market reaction: why 0.80 is still a hurdle

Even with the rebound, regaining the pre-exploit level around 0.80 may require more than continued recovery momentum. Data cited from CoinGecko shows H has bounced from lows near 0.08 to above 0.50 during recovery attempts, but trading remains constrained by technical levels.

Coverage referencing TradingView-style indicators suggests H is still holding above several longer-term exponential moving averages—specifically the 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day EMAs on the daily chart. That pattern is often read as support for the longer-term trend not fully breaking despite the crash.

At the same time, repeated rejections between 0.55 and 0.65 were described as a resistance zone where sellers continue to appear. On the 4-hour chart, a volume profile area between 0.22 and 0.25 was cited as the strongest support region formed after the exploit. The market narrative implied by the technical framing is straightforward: maintaining support preserves the recovery structure, while repeated failure at 0.55 to 0.65 suggests buyers may not yet be strong enough to force a decisive move higher.

Momentum readings were characterized as mixed. The 4-hour Relative Strength Index was reported to be near 55, indicating bullish momentum has cooled after the initial rebound but has not flipped decisively bearish. However, capital flow measures remained cautious: Chaikin Money Flow was reported as negative on the daily timeframe, suggesting some participants may still be selling into rallies.

What to watch ahead of the June 25 unlock

One of the next decisive variables is Humanity Protocol’s scheduled June 25 token unlock. Speculative demand has been partially supported by expectations that recovery actions—potentially including buybacks funded through recovered assets—could mitigate supply pressure created by the exploit.

Whether those expectations hold will likely influence the token’s ability to push through the 0.55 to 0.65 resistance band. The reporting suggests a sustained move above 0.65 could set up another attempt at 0.80, but traders may need confirmation that selling pressure around the range is absorbed before a more durable recovery develops.

Investors looking at H next may want to monitor signals of absorption versus renewed distribution around 0.55 to 0.65, as well as how the market prices in supply dynamics leading into the June 25 token unlock. Additional updates on recovery efforts and any implementation details for planned buybacks could also be key inputs into sentiment as the market tests whether the rebound can extend beyond the current technical ceiling.
