Bnb Approaches $603 As Derivatives Demand Turns Bullish, Eyes $649
Bnb Approaches $603 As Derivatives Demand Turns Bullish, Eyes $649

BNB prices extended a recovery on Wednesday, trading around $598 as traders tested a key resistance area near the 100-day exponential moving average. The push higher is being supported by improving derivatives positioning and momentum indicators, though analysts say BNB needs a decisive close above the $602.69 level to keep the rebound intact.

Derivatives metrics also suggest rising risk appetite among futures traders, with long exposure building alongside a turn to positive perpetual funding. That combination can support further upside, but it also raises the stakes if momentum fades and leverage unwinds quickly.

    Key takeaways

    • Price move: BNB was last near $598, extending gains for a fourth consecutive session and edging toward resistance around the 100-day EMA at $602.69.
    • Catalyst: Data from CoinGlass shows improving derivatives sentiment, including a long-to-short ratio above 1 and a positive funding rate.
    • Market implication: Fresh participation appears to be entering the market, but a failure to clear $602.69 could increase the risk of a sharper pullback.
    • Next technical level: A daily close above $602.69 could shift focus to higher Fibonacci targets, while sustained weakness below nearby support could open the door to deeper correction.

    What drove the move

According to CoinGlass, BNB’s long-to-short ratio rose to 1.14 on Wednesday, the highest reading in more than a month. A value above one generally indicates that long positions outnumber shorts, which is typically consistent with a market expecting further gains in the near term.

The same data set showed that open interest has increased steadily since July 30, reaching a total value of $986 million on Wednesday. Rising open interest alongside a firming price often suggests additional capital is entering the derivatives market rather than leverage being reduced as the move progresses.

CoinGlass also reported that BNB’s funding rate turned positive on July 12 and stood at 0.0031% on Tuesday. In perpetual futures, positive funding usually means long holders are paying short holders, a sign that demand for bullish exposure is currently outweighing hedging pressure.

Taken together, the long-to-short ratio above one, higher open interest, and positive funding point to derivatives traders favoring further upside. Still, analysts cautioned that a heavy concentration of leveraged longs can raise liquidation risk if price action reverses suddenly.

Market reaction and key technical levels

BNB was holding above the 50-day EMA at $583.80 and above the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level at $586.45, supporting the rebound structure. These areas are viewed as a near-term demand zone that could attract buyers if price dips.

The first major resistance sits at the 100-day EMA around $602.69. The technical outlook hinges on whether BNB can log a decisive daily close above that level—an outcome that could extend the rally toward the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement at $616.89.

If momentum continues, further targets identified by the technical framework include the 50% Fibonacci level at $641.50 and the 200-day EMA at $648.76. Supporting indicators are also consistent with a controlled recovery: the Relative Strength Index was near 65, which is considered bullish territory without clearly signaling overbought conditions. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence line was also moving higher above the zero line, reinforcing the view that buyers still control the short-term trend.

However, BNB remains below several medium- and long-term moving averages, which could limit follow-through unless buying pressure becomes more persistent and breadth improves.

    What could change the setup

On the downside, the immediate support area lies between the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement at $586.45 and the 50-day EMA at $583.80. If BNB fails to break above $602.69 and instead loses that demand zone on a sustained basis, the bullish derivatives picture could deteriorate quickly.

The article’s technical map points to a potential deeper correction toward horizontal support around $544.41 if the market slips further and leverage unwinds.

For now, both derivatives positioning and technical momentum remain aligned in favor of bulls, but the key near-term requirement is confirmation above the $602.69 resistance area.

What to watch next: Investors will likely focus on whether BNB can achieve a daily close above the 100-day EMA at $602.69 and whether open interest continues rising without a sharp change in funding. Traders will also watch for follow-through toward the next Fibonacci targets near $616.89, alongside broader market drivers that can influence liquidity and risk appetite across crypto assets.
