Bitget Expands Open Api To Global Cfd Markets
Bitget Expands Open Api To Global Cfd Markets

Bitget has expanded its Open API infrastructure to include Contracts for Difference, enabling quantitative and algorithmic traders to access a broader set of global markets through a single programming interface. The platform said the upgrade brings CFD trading coverage—alongside existing crypto access—across assets such as gold, foreign exchange, stock indices, and crude oil, allowing developers to extend existing strategy and execution workflows into traditional-market instruments.

The move targets a recurring operational hurdle for multi-asset trading firms: many strategies spanning crypto and CFDs historically require separate systems for market data, order routing, and account management. By rolling out CFD support within its Open API, Bitget says users can reuse established research, monitoring, and execution frameworks without building additional connections for non-crypto assets.

    Key takeaways

    • What changed: Bitget expanded its Open API to support CFD trading across markets including gold, forex, stock indices and crude oil.
    • Catalyst: The update aims to simplify multi-asset trading workflows that previously depended on separate data and execution infrastructure for crypto versus CFDs.
    • What users can do: Through the CFD Open API, users can automate order execution, pull real-time market data, transfer funds, and set risk controls such as take-profit and stop-loss parameters.
    • Key implication: API users may be able to consolidate crypto and CFD strategy management into a single environment, reducing integration overhead for developers and quantitative trading teams.

What Bitget says its Open API expansion enables

Bitget’s CFD Open API is designed to allow API users to build or extend programmatic trading strategies across both crypto and CFD instruments. According to the platform, the integration supports automation of order placement as well as access to account information and real-time market data. It also includes functionality for fund transfers and trading-parameter management, including take-profit and stop-loss settings.

For execution, Bitget said API users must specify the instrument code associated with the CFD account configuration in use when placing orders. The platform also stated that CFD Open API supports multiple CFD account modes, which affects how instrument codes are selected during order submission.

    Why multi-asset traders are watching

The practical challenge Bitget is addressing is operational rather than market-specific. Many algorithmic trading operations rely on custom software stacks—data ingestion, monitoring, execution engines, and risk modules—built around a particular asset class. When a strategy expands from crypto into CFDs, teams may need separate connectivity layers for each venue or product type, increasing development time and the risk of mismatched data or execution behaviors.

By embedding CFD connectivity into its existing Open API offering, Bitget is positioning the change as a workflow consolidation effort. The company said existing Bitget API users can extend their strategy frameworks into CFD markets without creating a separate connection for those assets, bringing more of the research and execution process into the same API environment.

Bitget’s CEO, Gracy Chen, said the broader objective is not only to add more markets but to provide the infrastructure that lets traders interact with those markets in ways that fit their current tooling. In remarks published by the company, Chen said multi-asset trading is about giving traders tools that match their operating models, and that extending API access to CFDs enables developers and quantitative traders to incorporate global markets into the systems and strategies they already use.

Bigger picture for Bitget’s push beyond crypto

Bitget said the API expansion comes as it increases investment in infrastructure aimed at professional and institutional trading, while continuing to broaden access beyond crypto. The company framed the change as part of building an ecosystem where users can access and manage exposure to both crypto and traditional-market assets through a more unified trading experience.

For market participants, the relevance of an Open API expansion depends on implementation details—such as instrument mapping, account-mode requirements, and how real-time data and order management are handled through the API. Bitget’s statement that orders require the instrument code corresponding to the user’s CFD account configuration suggests users will need to ensure their trading systems correctly align instrument codes and account modes when automating across markets.

    What to watch next

Traders using Bitget’s APIs may want to monitor documentation updates, supported instrument coverage within the CFD environment, and any changes to account-mode behavior that affect order routing. With Bitget continuing to expand multi-asset infrastructure, the next key developments will likely include further integration improvements for API users building cross-market strategies, alongside broader product updates aimed at institutional trading workflows.
