Bitget Celebrates 8 Years, Expands Uex Across Global Markets

    Key takeaways

    • Bitget is marking its eighth anniversary and laying out a push to expand its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy beyond crypto into traditional and institutional trading.
    • The company said non-crypto assets made up as much as 40% of trading volume over the past year, with peak daily volume in traditional finance derivatives exceeding $10 billion.
    • Bitget plans to broaden its offerings with stock perpetual contracts, US stock options and Hong Kong Quanto contracts, while scaling its rToken product and security coverage.
    • The initiative signals an ongoing shift toward cross-asset infrastructure, including institutional services, tighter market integrity efforts and AI-enabled trading tools.

Bitget, the Seychelles-based crypto trading platform, is celebrating its eighth anniversary by expanding its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy across crypto and traditional financial markets, with a heavier emphasis on institutional trading and cross-asset access. The firm said non-crypto assets accounted for up to 40% of total trading volume over the past year, and that traditional finance derivative volumes peaked above $10 billion per day.

As Bitget enters its ninth year, it is positioning UEX as the centerpiece of its platform strategy and is coupling the expansion plan with additional security coverage, product rollouts and infrastructure upgrades.

    What drove Bitget’s expansion pitch

Over the past year, Bitget expanded its push beyond crypto by launching stock perpetual contracts, US stock options and Hong Kong stock Quanto contracts, according to the company. The firm also highlighted traction for its rToken product, saying it surpassed $100 million in assets under management within five weeks and has recorded more than 3 million cumulative transactions.

Bitget further stated that one in four new users now begins trading with rToken, indicating that the company is attempting to convert broader market access into user acquisition and engagement.

Market access broadens, with AI and new derivatives

Bitget said it is also increasing the role of artificial intelligence in trading through its AI Playbook, which it describes as an autonomous trading agent. The company framed the strategy around convergence between crypto and traditional markets, alongside accelerating institutional participation and changing trading experiences.

The platform’s messaging ties product expansion to operational capability: the company is presenting UEX as a single framework through which customers can trade across asset classes rather than treating crypto and traditional derivatives as separate lines of business. Bitget’s CEO, Gracy Chen, said that “Crypto and traditional markets are converging, AI is changing the trading experience, and institutional participation is accelerating,” while also characterizing UEX as a broader bet beyond crypto alone.

Security and institutional focus remain central

On risk controls, Bitget said it plans to expand its Proof of Reserves coverage from four to 24 verifiable assets as part of its eighth-anniversary initiatives. The company also cited that its Protection Fund had an average valuation of approximately $382 million in August 2026.

Bitget said the move to broaden asset coverage would be accompanied by continued investment in security, market integrity and compliance. On the institutional front, the company reported that, as of the second quarter of 2026, institutional client net assets had increased 45% from the end of 2025.

Bitget also said the number of core active market makers rose from 90 to 248 firms. It added that its ninth-year priorities include strengthening execution quality, API and quantitative trading infrastructure, institutional services and cross-asset account capabilities.

Bigger picture: UEX as a cross-asset platform strategy

Bitget’s stated direction reflects a broader industry theme: exchanges and trading platforms are trying to differentiate through cross-asset offerings and institutional-grade infrastructure, rather than relying solely on spot or crypto derivatives. By citing both the growth in non-crypto trading volume and the expansion of stock-linked products, Bitget is effectively positioning UEX as the infrastructure layer that connects customers to multiple market types on one platform.

For investors and market participants tracking exchange operators, the key question is whether platform expansion translates into sustainable liquidity, stronger compliance outcomes and scalable operating performance—particularly as Proof of Reserves coverage and institutional services expand alongside new product lines.

Bitget said its eighth-anniversary activities include KCGI 2026, featuring a 3 million USDT prize pool, along with VIP programs, community activities and offline events across multiple regions. Looking ahead into its ninth year, the company said it will continue to focus on improving the trading experience while expanding access to a broader range of markets.

Next, investors will likely watch how Bitget scales its UEX products, whether non-crypto volume sustains after initial rollouts, and how its expanded Proof of Reserves coverage and institutional infrastructure efforts perform as adoption grows.
